Card fronts consists of a simple black-and-white photograph, surrounded by a white border, and with a facsimile player autograph superimposed. The card edges are rounded and uneven, thus the 'deckle edge' name which was given to this issue by collectors.
Card backs are mostly blank, with a text box near the bottom giving the player name, card number and set total ('No. xx of 33 Photos'), with copyright indicia along the bottom.
These, along with the 1969 Topps decals, were inserts in packs of the regular 1969 Topps set; these are considered by collectors to be a separate and distinct set.
There are two error/variations that collectors chase. #11 was originally issued as Hoyt Wilhelm, but in later reprintings was replaced by Jim Wynn at that number. Also, #22 was originally Rusty Staub, replaced by Joe Foy. In both cases, the later issued versions are more difficult to find and thus command a higher price.
Prominent cards in this set include:
1 - Brooks Robinson
6 - Luis Aparicio
21 - Pete Rose
27 - Roberto Clemente
33 - Willie Mays
