Card fronts show a color illustration of the player with a facsimile signature superimposed; surrounded by a white border.
Card backs give the player name at the top, followed by brief biographical data and a paragraph of text about his career. Below this is the card number and an ad for the entire card set.
For its 1952 baseball card release, Bowman cut back on the number of cards issued, and stuck with the size they had experimented with for the previous year's set.
This was the year, of course, that Topps came out with their first decent card set (after the poor sales of the 1951 Red and Blue Backs). Of course, Bowman's management or design team couldn't have known that when this set was being assembled; or at least, they had no idea what kind of impact the 1952 Topps cards would have within the hobby.
Prominent cards in this set include:
1 - Yogi Berra
44 - Roy Campanella
52 - Phil Rizzuto
101 - Mickey Mantle
116 - Duke Snider
196 - Stan Musial
218 - Willie Mays
