The card fronts show a color image of the player inside an elongated, very stylized baseball diamond, surrounded by various related objects; the player's name and team appear in a small banner superimposed. This is all surrounded by a gold leaf border.
The card backs, differing from most cigarette issues, offer the player's name at the top, followed by a paragraph of text about his career, and a few year-by-year statistics. In a text box at the bottom appears an ad for the cigarette brand with which that particular card was distributed. Note that minor league players do not feature statistics on their card backs.
These cards were distributed with a variety of cigarettes, with Sweet Caporal and Piedmont being the most common. Cards featuring ads for less common brands might carry a slight premium in collector value.
